Dinghy RacingExe Sailing Club has its roots in dinghy racing. In 1996 the Club celebrated 100 years of dinghy racing at Exmouth.

We have active Comet Trio, RS 200 and Laser fleets. We also have a handicap fleet with many classes including RS 400s, RS Visions and Enterprises to name a few.

Dinghy racing is organised for weekends according to the tides and on Wednesday evenings during the summer. See the Racing programme for details.  Results are posted as they become available.   Races may be held in the estuary or at sea, with committee boat starts/finishes, or they may be held in the estuary using pre-set courses and start/finish based on the club race box, near the entrance to the dock.  For a basic chart of the river buoyage as used in our races, see; www.exeter.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=7067,  on the Exeter City Council website.

The wide expanse of the estuary at high water with immediate access to the sea provides excellent waters for dinghy sailing. The whole estuary and coast is a delight to explore in a dinghy.

The club regularly organises Open Meetings and National Championships for various dinghy classes.

Members are asked to volunteeer to do Safety Boat duties several times throughout the year.

Fleet Captains;

Trios, Bill Gott.    Handicap, Ls Arscott.  Lasers, Nick Coombes.  Juniors, George melbourne.
