In light of today's winds and temperature, we will be playing simple beach games this evening with the kids. Arrive at the normal time of 6pm. Of course the Kitchen and bar will still be open, serving the usual chips etc. Come down for the Friday night social.
Due to the forecast of 20 knots of wind with 27 knots gusts on Thursday night, the Race Training has been cancelled.

Application forms for cruiser winter storage 2013/14 can be downloaded here. As in the past, preference will be given to existing berth holders, but some spaces will be available for new applicants. Please apply by May 31st in order that members can be given as much notice as possible of an available space.
Sam Matson has recently completed the RORC Cervantes off-shore race to Le Havre as part of the Artemis Offshore Sailing Academy and sailing their Figaro 2 (number 21) in the two-handed division.

Dinghy cruising with safety cover is being restarted this year with the following programme dates of Tuesday 11 June (evening) and Saturdays 27 July, 31 August and 28 September (see calendar for times). Dinghy cruisers are encouraged to meet beforehand on Saturday 11 May for the Free Sailing event.
The 2013 Centenary Chase pursuit race, kindly sponsored by Graham Sykes, will take place on Sunday 19 May 2013. See the notice of race here.
Sunday 19th May is Push the Boat out Day, nationally. We will be having a juniors "sail away" to Sandy Bay and for those who wish to race another "Centenary Challenge" pursuit race for boats large and small. Prizes have been donated by Graham sykes and we hope the weather will be as kind as last year. More details available shortly.
Ben Rhodes and Stevie Morrison will be using ESC as their "Olympic" training base for the next few months. Expect to see them and their 49er in the dinghy park during the week. They might even join us for R. Exe Regatta. We will also have an occasional group of paddlers from the Royal Canoe Club who are practising for a long distance race in Hawaii. Their outrigger canoe will be stored down along the seafront and during their visits to the club they will be hosted by Ali Martineau.

After 4 years as the Club Professional, in which the Training Centre has gone from strength to strength, Jen is moving on to a new job. We sincerely thank her for the boundless enthusiasm, cheerfulness, dedication and skill which she has brought to the job. It has been a real pleasure to have such an wonderful proponent of the joys of sailing as part of the Exe SC team. We wish her every success in her new job and hope to see her out on the water, sailing for pleasure, as a member of the club.
